cliche

اینا معنی کلیشه هستن
Well a cliche is pretty much just something that is used really frequently and is unoriginal.

Examples from literature would be starting a story using "Once upon a time..." or "On a dark and stormy night..." because so many people use those, they are considered cliches.

It's just a trite thing to say. You hear it all the time and so it loses all its meaning. Actually it has created a new meaning. It's like saying "Hey, I can't think of one original thing to say!" Some examples of cliche things to say would be:

Another day, another dollar
Drink plenty of water, and stay safe!
Oh, I hope nobody got hurt
Listen, baby, you know I love you...but
I gotta go to the courthouse tomorrow...
Hey, I do it for the customers (yeah right)
Well, I love working with others and....
Prince (Edward) saves Princess (Bella) from danger (uncontrolled car)

When Bella is about to get hit by a car, Edward jumps in and saves her miraculously.

    Success - Socrates

A young man asked Socrates the secret of success. Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him into the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and swiftly ducked him into the water

The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled the boy’s head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air

Socrates asked him, "what did you want the most when you were there?" The boy replied, "Air". Socrates said, "That is the secret of success! When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it!" There is no other secret

Need A Bad Day to Get Into Heaven

Need A Bad Day to Get Into Heaven
It got crowded in heaven so, for one day and one day only, it was decided to only accept people who had really bad day on the day they died.
St. Peter was standing at the pearly gates and said to the first man, "Tell me about the day you died." The man said, "Oh, it was awful. I was sure my wife was having an affair, so I came home early to catch her with him. I searched all over the apartment but couldn't find him anywhere. So I went out onto the balcony, we live on the 25th floor, and found this man hanging over the edge by his fingertips. I went inside, got a hammer, and started hitting his hands. He fell, but landed in some bushes. So, I got the refrigerator and pushed it over the balcony and it crushed him. The strain of the act gave me a heart attack, of which I died from."
St. Peter couldn't deny that this was a pretty bad day, and since it was a crime of passion, he let the man in. He then asked the next man in line about the day he died. "Well, sir, it was awful," said the second man. "I was doing aerobics on the balcony of my 26th floor apartment when I twisted my ankle and slipped over the edge. I managed to grab the balcony other apartment below, but some maniac came out and started pounding on my fingers with a hammer. Luckily I landed in some bushes. But, then the guy dropped refrigerator on me!"

St. Peter chuckled, let him into heaven and decided he could really start to enjoy this job. "Tell me about the day you died?” he said to the third man in line. "OK, picture this; I'm naked, hiding inside a refrigerator...."

    Important Matters In Life

When something happens to you, good or bad consider what it means. There's a purpose to life's events, to teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard.
You can't make someone love you, all you can do is being someone who can be loved by others, and the rest is up to the person to realize your worth

The measure of love is when you love without measure. In life there are very rare chances that you'll meet the person you love & loves you in return.
So once you have it, don’t ever let it go, the chance might never come to your way again

It's better to lose your pride to the one you love, than lose the one you love because of pride. We spend too much time looking for the right person to love or finding fault with those we already love, instead of perfecting the love that we gave

When you truly care for someone, you don't look for faults, you don't look for answers, you don't look for mistakes.Instead, you fight the mistakes, you accept the faults, & you overlook the excuses.
Never abandon an old friend. You’ll never find one who can take his/her place. Friendship is like wine, it gets better as it grows older

New Study: Getting a Hug or Phone Call from Mom Can Reduce Stress

Research indicates that interacting with your mother can help calm your nerves. By Liana Smith-Bautista

moms_love_reduces_stress.jpgNo matter how old you get, a dose of mother's love can offer a stressed-out girl a lot of comfort. Although we know this emotionally, a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison shows that biologically, this is true as well. Getting some physical TLC (such as a hug or an arm around the shoulders) or an encouraging phone call from your mother may give you a little stress relief since it can trigger the release of a stress-reducing hormone called oxytocin, which is often associated with emotional bonding.

The study, headed by biological anthropologist Leslie Seltzer, tested a group of girls aged 7 through 12 by having them answer math problems and give impromptu speeches in front of a panel of strangers, says this article on PsyOrg.com. The girls' level of cortisol, which is a stress hormone, rose dramatically. Once they'd reached a high stress level, a third of the test subjects were offered comfort by their mothers in person, a third were given motherly love via telephone, and a third watched a emotionally neutral video.

Results showed that the girls who got to receive physical or verbal encouragement from their mothers showed reduced stress levels: the levels of oxytocin, which is also known as the "love hormone," increased as the levels of cortisol decreased.

The findings of this study, which were published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B journal, show the importance of the bonding between mothers and daughters. Even very early on in life, mothers should make it a point to show their love and encouragement of their daughters both physically (through hugs and other affirming gestures) and verbally.

Below are some of FN's suggestions on how to show your daughter some love:

    FREQUENT AND HEARTFELT HUGS

Hug them long and often, especially when they're still young. As they get older, it may become a little less cool to be hugged by Mom in public, but we assure you, these hugs will still be welcome at home or during private moments (read that as when she knows she doesn't have to defend her "coolness" to anyone present).

    A PAT ON THE SHOULDER

This doesn't have to be literally a pat on the shoulder; an encouraging squeeze or even a smile or a thumbs-up gesture may do as well. Just make it a point to show with your whole body that you are 100 percent behind her.

REWARD FOR A JOB WELL DONE

Words like "good work" or "I'm proud of you" when your daughter has done well will show that you're aware how hard she's worked to accomplish something. Make even token gestures to reward her, such as by cooking her favorite dishes or by taking her out to a much-loved restaurant when she brings home that straight-A report card. You can even opt for monetary rewards.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION IN TIMES OF CRISIS

When your daughter is going through a tough time, you need to show your support and concern rather than adding to the load. Even a simple "I believe in you" or "we'll get through this" (the latter effective because you're also letting her know she's not alone) will go a long way to reviving her spirits so she can face what's ahead. For example, if she's facing a big exam, give her some verbal encouragement the morning before or tell her to cal you right after. Show her you're here to help by asking her, "How can we fix this?" or "What do you need that I can give you?" Punishment for wrongdoing is one thing, but very often, using positive reinforcement works just as well, if not better, and it will be much more pleasant for both of you.

The best poems i've ever heard

    Dear white fella
    Couple things you should know
    When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in sun, I black
    When I cold, I black
    When I scared, I black
    When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black.

    You white fella
    When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
    When you cold, you blue
    When you scared, you yellow
    When you sick, you green
And when you die, you grey.
And you have the cheek to call me colored?????

    Written by an African Shakespeare

    RISK

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement
To expose your feelings is to risk
    exposing your true self
To place your ideal, your dreams before a crowd
    is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return

To live is to risk dying
To hope is to risk despair
To try is to risk failure

    Yet risks must be taken
Because the greatest hazard in life is risking
    NOTHING

    The person who risks nothing
    Does nothing
    Has nothing
    Is nothing

    Self-realisation is harder than
    Self Sacrifice

There comes a time in life

When those who are really close to us, seems so far

And those who are far seem so close.

When people who stand by you during the hard times

Are now seems to be the reason for hardship itself.

When the hands that once rocked the cradle,

Seems to be the hand that is rocking your dream castle.

When Love of life, who vowed to live and die together

Is now succumbed under the worldly pressure.

When there seems more doubts and fear,

And you are in dilemma who to trust and who to share

The litmus test, which will serve you best

Is to trust the ones, who know you best,

Those who stay with you and loves you the same

No matter how you play the game

They love you for what you are

Even after knowing all your good, bad and ugly scars.

How to improve our English speaking skill

Learning English conversation fluently is the dream of many Iranian teenagers. Whether those who have some specific goals of learning it such as traveling abroad, continuation of education by being employed in a foreign institution or just being interested in communicating with the worldwide community.

All believe that teaching language(s) in Iranian schools and universities is not found useful for conversation, and the materials are only confined to grammar or text translation.

Some of the Iranian families, as they are well aware of hardships of language learning after maturation, register their children for language schools right from the beginning of elementary years.

However, adults interested in participating in these sorts of classes are always looking for an accredited center or even perhaps have experienced several institutes. Nevertheless, since they only attend their classes and the time spending on weekly exercises or pre-study does not suffice, they do not take full advantage.

And some, since being busy, are not able to take part in any classes, by getting different types of books and CDs, make a decision to learn English personally at home or in car, as they are under no compulsion, little by little, ignore this method and forget it.

What I am aiming at telling you in this post is to make references to key points in learning language conversation based on various experiences.

This information will suit both groups fine, especially those who are sick and tired of applying different methods and techniques.

Three substantial conditions of learning language conversation:

    1) Motivation: make up your mind! For what reason are you trying to learn the language? If you are determined, begin unless you kill your time.

    2) Time and energy: learning a language is a continuous and time-taking task. There must not be any distance between its different parts, therefore; specify exactly what times are you to devote to language learning weekly.

    3) Opportune environment: while leaning a language, you need to have an appropriate and silent atmosphere in order to have concentration. Do not count on noisy places or cars etc. (for that reason, some language laboratories are recommended.)

    Is English forgetable?

If you have gone through the process of conversation learning properly, it should not be forgettable. Like after ten years avoidance of driving, you would like to drive over again and say I have forgotten how to drive. Conversation capability must penetrate into your subconscious, then after passage of time, only some words will get out of your mind, but conversation competence remains in your ability. Unless the way you have been taught is shallow.

Listening, the best, and the most significant method

The most important and useful way of learning conversation is Listening. The more you listen, the faster you learn. Now how to listen to tapes:

    1) Never ever read any material, before you listen to its tape sometimes. You may pronounce some words inaccurately, and this continuous mistake will stay with you permanently. Therefore, listen to the tape first, and then read the text.

    2) How many times should we listen to each lesson? Once? Five times? Ten times? Nope….100 times! Yes, do not get shocked, if you would like to be self confident of conversing, listen a lot until you memorize it! Truly speaking, it is the most influential subject in conversation. You need to memorize the texts of lessons. Then turn it off and try to repeat like the speaker. Your greatest joy will be when you commit a long paragraph to memory.

    3) How to listen to tapes? Only by hands free. Why? For two reasons.

Firstly, the human learning abilities are divided 60 and 40 percent between seeing and listening, respectively. If you want your seeing ability helps your listening ability, you need to shut your eyes,( imagine you are sitting somewhere and talking to someone, your colleague approaches you, and drop a word in your ear…while you are listening to him, where do you look? While your eyes are open, but, in fact, you look nowhere because all your consciousness in concentrated to understand what he says. (Hands free is a kind of whisper in your ears that captivates all your attention and concentration to the speaker.)

Secondly, since the voice coming out of the hands free is in your ears, remains in entrance part of ears for sometime, and repeats

    .

If you are watching visual program, similar to cinema, you should darken the environment in order for nothing else distracts you.

    4) Well, you have been expected to listen sometimes, and then memorize the text wholly. In the next stage, when being completely familiar with the text by reading, you need to record your voice. Prepare an empty tape, and whatever text you memorized, without looking at the book record your voice on it. Of course, initially, it would be a little hard task but if you forgot some parts, instead of referring to the book, listen to that part over again. Then do it again, I mean record your voice. In addition, when you listen to your voice, you will know how good have you been at pronunciation and accent… do not forget, in order to have an acceptable accent, you must mimic their accents like an imitator or an actor. Even if it is an old woman or a baby, try to copy, as you say something that you have heard. Pay a close attention that if you try to speak exactly the way a native speaker speaks, you'll remember more words, because you say whatever you have exactly listened!!, but if you speak with your own accent, then your hearings will remedy nothing, because your mind suppose them something else.

The best speaking practice is in front of mirror. You can also improve your self-confidence by this method.

Point: those who suggest you continually to listen to the tape or radio or watch original movies are right, but it doesn't get your speaking skill improved but it's only advantage is for your ears to familiarize with the specific frequencies of language conversation. Even if you do not know the meaning of the words, listen. Afterward, when you are aware of their meaning, your mind, similar to puzzle, put these words together, and adequate understanding of it will be gained.

Exercise, Grammar, Dictation, Word memorization, and Sentence making

    Forget them all!

At the beginning levels of learning conversation, do not pressure yourself into doing exercises, taking dictation, practicing grammar, etc…just listen, record your voice to the point that you are satisfied with your accent, and speaking speed.

Practicing grammar a lot will get in the way of your goal. While memorizing the materials, learning grammar takes place automatically and this method is more permanent in comparison with applying grammatical points throughout your speaking with pre-determined purpose.

Do not attempt to learn by memorizing vocabularies…say good-bye to the dictionary!....you only learn sentences or phrases, not words…how useful it is knowing thousands of words without capability of applying them throughout speaking?

We should not make our own sentences but we need to memorize prepared sentences.

Keep in mind, you are only able to apply sentences throughout your speaking that you have read or heard the same previously! Unless, like a polite student, say: we have not studied yet, sir…!

If you attempt to make a new sentence, totally, it is antithesis of our method. Do you make any sentences while producing your mother tongue? Never...why? Because you have already read or heard the sentences, you want to produce.

Do not worry, since you will memorize many sentences and the need for sentence making will be eliminated.

Penetrate language conversation into your life.

If you want to say these sentences in English fast, can you?

تلویزیون را خاموش کن، سفره رو بنداز، ببین کیه در می زنه؟ برو درستو بخون..

One of the biggest problems of language teaching methods in our schools is its difference with the way a baby speaks. After birth, the very first words that your child gets familiar with, after dad and mom, are imperative verbs, such as come, sit down, don't touch, open your mouth, say mommy, laugh and so on.

Nevertheless, we, in schools, start with declarative sentences!  I am a student….He is a teacher

This subject could be known as the biggest deficiency in English language teaching system in our schools. University-educated people cannot still realize the difference between 'get, take, and put' very well. Why? Because it could be specified only by the imperative use of these verbs in their authentic contexts.

Here, I am not going to suggest you to learn verbs and their usage. Because previously I mentioned that in learning conversation, grammar is not applied independently, but it is learned out of context.

    Our recommendations are:

    1) Several nights consecutively, while your family members are not aware, record their colloquial conversations at home e.g. while eating dinner.

    2) In the next step, transcribe all their conversations.

    3) Since you have recorded some nights successively, you will meet some repetitive statements, delete them.

    4) Translate these sentences by getting help from your teacher or one who is good at English.

    5) Commit the sentences to memory.

Right now, you are able to converse English at home by the sentences you have kept in mind.

    Developing your capability

    1) Generally speaking, the advice I would like to give you is based on Persian to English translation. You should be able to translate the simple Persian sentences to English. Then you will be enough self-confident.

    2) Never jump from one method to another, do not try various methods, and do not buy variety of tapes, CDs, and books. Provide only one series of tapes and books and begin with the same. (I have no suggestion on courses and books …you search for the best…book is not of highly importance, method is. We talked about method, but personally think the courses having less books and tapes such as Interchange will suit you fine.

    3) Write down some of your daily notes and reminders in English…the personal reminders… of your friends and family members…rules of work place and home…are short statements but you can bear them in mind forever.

    4) Do not write Finglish. In e-mail or chat, write in English even if all are ill formed. It would suffice if you learn a trifle out of each e-mail.

    5) learn text translation through learning conversation…you will succeed in translation automatically when you are fluent speaker.

The final point: write the important sentences each and everywhere at home and work place, and hang them to be with you every day….sentence…not words!!!

    Good-Luck

    ACRES OF DIAMONDS

There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, "If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country." And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy.
The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn't find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn't find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.
Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He thought it would look good on the mantle piece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room.
That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, "Is Hafiz back?" The new owner said, "No, why do you ask?" The wise man said, "Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one." The man said, no, that's just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you.
There are many more." They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds.*
What is the moral of this story? There are five morals:

    1. When our attitude is right, we realize that we are all walking on acres and acres of diamonds. Opportunity is always under our feet. We don't have to go anywhere. All we need to do is recognize it.
    2. The grass on the other side always looks greener.
    3. While we are dyeing the grass on the other side, there are others who are dyeing the grass on our side. They would be happy to trade places with us.
    4. When people don't know how to recognize opportunity, they complain of noise when it knocks.
    5. The same opportunity never knocks twice. The next one may be better or worse, but it is never the same one.

    Enlightening story

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage.

They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes.

When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open.
He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard.

His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank
     it all.

It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child
collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned.
She was terrified how to face her husband.

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child,
he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. What were the five words?
    2. What is the implication of this story?

    Scroll down...

    ANSWER:

The husband just said "I AM WITH YOU DARLING"

The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead.
He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother.
Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment
was consolation and sympathy from the husband.

That is what he gave her.

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer
     problems in the world.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you
will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

    MORAL OF THE STORY

Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a
relationship, in a job or with the people we know.
By this way we miss out some warmth in human relationship.

"Everything in life has a purpose, there are no mistakes, coincidence; events are
blessings given to us to learn from it"
